Tim's Report

Well about 3 weeks ago we arrived in Chile, South America on a 3 month contract to build trails in the Patagonian Region. We are the 4th crew to arrive and the crews previous to us have all worked super hard. They have already built alot of the network but we are here now to do our piece and I'm pretty excited to be here.
Now to be honest I'm not much of an all mountain rider, coming from a background in dirtjumping and freeride, I'm abit out of my comfort zone here. so im struggling on the big hill climbs at the start of everyday and have found myself doing alot of hiking. But when i do get my bike to the top, the downhill is all worth it.
Each day we get up around 7am, have breakfast which is already prepared by the lovely senoritas that look after our nutritional needs, we pack our bags then hike (in my case) or ride up the mountain to our piece of trail that we are working on each day. In the 2 1/2 weeks we have been onsite, we have already had snow, extreme winds and super hot sunny days. The weather is unpredictable but makes for and interesting day at the office. The work is pretty tough but at the same time extremely rewarding. It's amazing at how much trail you can get through when thats all you are doing everyday.
The terrain is pretty gnarly here. There is everything from big rock sections to nice flowy landscape to back country riding into the valleys. Its not somewhere that you would want to have a crash, but the style of tracks that are getting built are designed to accomodate for technical but safe riding.
Enjoy the pictures and i cant wait to get home and bring back my new found trail building talents to Woodhill.
